Airflow Heating & Air is a family-owned Sacramento-area HVAC contractor that repairs, maintains and replaces air conditioners, furnaces, heat pumps and ductwork in Marysville, CA and nearby Plumas Lake. We're licensed under CSLB #956515 (C-20), our technicians are NATE-certified, and emergency service is available 24/7.
Marysville is the Yuba County seat, a compact city of 12,844 people at the 2020 census, built where the Yuba River runs into the Feather. Plumas Lake, about 10 miles south off Highway 70, is a much younger unincorporated community that counted 8,126 residents in 2020. Both are served by PG&E for electricity and natural gas, and both sit behind levees, which affects where heating and cooling equipment should go.
Marysville incorporated on February 5, 1851, among the first cities in the new state, and marked 175 years in February 2026. It earned its nickname because every city incorporated before it has grown far larger. Gold Rush money built homes in Gothic Revival, Italianate, Queen Anne and Greek Revival styles, and the 1855 Warren P. Miller House, now the Mary Aaron Museum, still stands. Homes this old were never designed for ducts, and that shows up in our work:
Central air often arrived long after construction, with ducts squeezed into crawlspaces or shallow attics. Runs tend to be undersized or poorly sealed, so we measure airflow before reusing them.
Plaster makes new duct runs messy and costly. Ductless mini-split heads condition single rooms through one small wall penetration, leaving original moldings alone.
An older panel may lack room for a heat pump, and an old flue may not suit a modern furnace. We check both so the quote covers the whole job.
Marysville also has many mid-century houses and rentals, and Beale Air Force Base sits about 10 miles east, so military households turn over leases often. For landlords, we schedule around tenants and put repair-or-replace advice in writing.
A levee about 7.5 miles long nearly encircles Marysville, with the Yuba River on the south, the Feather River on the west and Jack Slough on the north, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has been upgrading it against seepage. In February 1986, a Yuba River levee failed at Linda, just across the river from downtown. In January 1997, a Feather River levee broke at Arboga, flooding the Plumas and Arboga area years before most of today's Plumas Lake homes were built. In February 2017, erosion at Oroville Dam's spillways upstream led to a mandatory evacuation of Marysville and much of the Yuba County valley floor.
Floods are rare, but placement still deserves thought at replacement time:
Average July highs in Marysville run in the mid to upper 90s, and heat waves push well past 100. A system low on refrigerant falls behind by late afternoon, and a spring AC tune-up catches weak capacitors and dirty coils before the first long hot stretch.
Winter brings tule fog, which the National Weather Service describes as radiation fog forming on late fall and winter nights after the first significant rain. Its dense fog advisories regularly name Marysville. On gray days that never warm up, heating runs nearly nonstop and exposes worn igniters and defrost problems. The Feather River Air Quality Management District also runs a "Check Before You Burn" program from November 1 through February 28, so homes that lean on a wood stove need reliable central heat. For summer wildfire smoke, better air filtration helps.
Plumas Lake is a master-planned community in southern Yuba County: its plan was approved in 1993, home building began in 2003, and the population grew from 5,853 in 2010 to 8,126 in 2020. It is unincorporated, so HVAC permits come from Yuba County's Community Development & Services Agency Building Department, and county records list Plumas Lake changeouts as residential mechanical permits. The county also handles permits in Olivehurst and Linda.
The earliest Plumas Lake systems are past 20 years old, the age when compressors and blower motors start to fail. Builder equipment was often sized by rule of thumb, so replacement is the time for a real load calculation. A warm upstairs usually traces to duct design and return air, not unit size. Attic flex duct of that age often sags or separates, and duct sealing before a changeout helps the new system pass its HERS test.
California requires a permit for an HVAC replacement, and Title 24 usually adds HERS verification such as a duct leakage test. Inside city limits, the City of Marysville's Community & Economic Development Department issues them, by email or its online portal. A Marysville mailing address doesn't always mean the city, because ZIP code 95901 reaches into unincorporated areas permitted by Yuba County. Yuba City, across the Feather River in Sutter County, has its own office, covered on our Yuba City page. We confirm the jurisdiction from the parcel, file the permit, arrange the HERS test and meet the inspector.
No-cool calls on hot valley afternoons, from downtown Victorians to Plumas Lake two-stories.
New systems sized by load calculation, with the outdoor unit set high where the lot allows.
All-electric heating and cooling for PG&E customers, with a panel check before we quote.
Igniter, inducer and safety switch repairs during weeks of tule fog, with 24/7 emergency calls.
Room-by-room comfort for historic Marysville homes where new ductwork would mean opening plaster.
Fixing crushed crawlspace runs and sagging attic flex so air reaches every room.
Airflow Heating & Air is a family-owned Sacramento-area HVAC contractor, and Marysville and Plumas Lake are part of the area we serve. We work on houses, rentals, multi-family buildings and light commercial spaces. For a breakdown at any hour, call (916) 476-2222, or ask us for a free estimate on a replacement system. Financing is available for qualified customers.
Inside city limits, the City of Marysville issues it. Outside the city, even with a Marysville mailing address, the permit usually comes from the Yuba County Building Department. We check the parcel before filing.
No. Plumas Lake is an unincorporated community in Yuba County, about 10 miles south of Marysville. HVAC permits there are issued by Yuba County, and the county says simple residential jobs such as HVAC changeouts can often be permitted over the counter.
Not automatically. But if it needs a compressor, a coil or repeated refrigerant, replacement is usually the better value. An inspection shows where it stands.
Often, yes, if there is room for properly sized ducts in the attic or crawlspace. When there isn't, ductless mini-splits can heat and cool the main rooms without cutting into plaster or original trim. We inspect first and give you both options.
Don't turn it on. Water damages gas valves, control boards, motors and duct insulation in ways you can't always see. Have it inspected and plan on replacing submerged parts.
The federal 25C energy tax credit ended for equipment installed after December 31, 2025, so it no longer applies to new installs. PG&E and state incentive programs open and close, and we check what is available at the time of your quote instead of counting on one.

We are thrilled with Oleg and the work he and his team did to install a heat pump, remove the A/C and detangle our hydronic heating system! The price was great, the work was great, the follow-up and follow-through were great. The team was super fast, getting it all done in one day. Oleg is such a great guy - extremely thorough, kind and does such good work. The inspector said "wow, he did a really clean job". We will highly recommend Oleg to anyone who needs HVAC!

I can’t say enough about Oleg and his staff, they were truly professional from initial diagnosis to installation. My heating system ceased working and my family and I were left in the cold. I reached out to Airflow based on the superlative reviews I saw in my research. Oleg came out and knew exactly what my issue was and also uncovered a problem with my dampening system which for the past 25 years no one was able to correct. Oleg told me what I needed, no sales pressure, promised to send me an estimate that day which he did. The cost was exceptionally fair and coupled with the impression Airflow had made I decided to go with them without further research or estimates for price comparisons….wasn’t necessary, this was the guy. I requested early January thinking I could tough it out, however it just got too uncomfortable in the house. I reached out to Oleg who by the way was quite busy and he moved some stuff around and did the entire install the next day. My home is now warm and comfortable. Oleg was a pleasure to deal with. This guy is an Einstein when it comes to HVAC and I will not do business with anyone else from this point forward. Thanks Oleg, you and your staff are top notch. My HVAC system has never operated at this level before.

We highly recommend Airflow Heating & Air for your heating or air conditioning needs. Oleg and his crew installed 2 independent systems in our 2-story home built in the early 1900s. Both the Daikin mini-split and the Goodman heat pump system work to perfection, keeping our house cool in the summer and warm in the winter. What we appreciated most, along with professionalism and a clean job site, was Oleg’s genuine interest in ensuring that we were completely satisfied with the installations.

I’ve used Airflow Heating and Air for years for both my personal home and multiple rental properties. These guys are truly top-notch. What sets Airflow apart is their honesty and thoroughness. Instead of immediately pushing a full system replacement like many HVAC companies do, AirFlow takes the time to properly diagnose the issue and recommend repairs whenever possible, always keeping my budget in mind. They clearly explain the options so you can make an informed decision without pressure. When a full replacement is necessary, they’re just as impressive. I’ve trusted Airflow with two complete system replacements, and both were smooth, professional, and fairly priced. They handled the entire process including permits and inspections which made everything incredibly easy for me and my tenants. Overall, Airflow Heating and Air has been reliable, professional, and easy to work with every step of the way. Their communication is excellent, their work is high quality, and they truly stand behind what they do. I trust them completely and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone needing HVAC service! 10/10

Oleg was referred to me by my neighbor. My neighbor said he will never go with anyone else for his HVAC needs - and I now I understand why! Both times I reached out, he responded to me within minutes, and came out to my house the very next day. He's honest, reliable, reasonably priced, and just an all around cool dude. Thanks, Oleg!
